BOOK REVIEW: OVERALLS OFF

BY STUART MILNES

The behind-the-scenes story of F1 stock car racing’s greatest driver, Stuart Smith, was always going to be eagerly awaited. It has been more than six years since Stuart passed away and there have been many scribes willing to put pen to paper to write the ultimate story of the the sport’s legendary driver.

In the end it was Stuart Milnes, former BSCDA chairman, and also a member of the Smith team during the 1980s, who Stuart’s sons Andrew and Stuart gave their blessing to tell his story.

And from the first page to the last it is a compelling and fascinating story of a complex man, written with charm and affection. A must-read for all stock car fans.

The book can be bought at various meetings throughout the season, including at Skengess on July 9-10 for £20.

It can also be bought via Stuart himself via stuart.milnes@btinternet.com. Postage and packaging is £3.50.
